State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal in Bali.
On July 8, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Faisal of Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Bali.
Wang Yi expressed that China and Saudi Arabia have always firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests, which reflects the important value of the China-Saudi Arabia strategic partnership. China cherishes the solid mutual trust established by President Xi Jinping with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed, and has always viewed bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, and is willing to jointly promote the China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership for new progress. China will continue to firmly support Saudi Arabia in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and stability, oppose any interference in Saudi Arabia’s internal affairs, and support Saudi Arabia in continuing to play an important and unique role in international and regional affairs.
Faisal said that the heads of state of Saudi Arabia and China have maintained close strategic communication to provide key guidance for bilateral relations. We thank China for its firm and strong support to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia firmly adheres to the one-China policy, always opposes any external forces interfering in China’s internal affairs, and is willing to deepen all-round cooperation between the two countries. Saudi Arabia and China have a high degree of consensus on major international and regional affairs, and both stand for safeguarding the authority of the United Nations and the basic norms governing international relations. Saudi Arabia is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China to jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries and safeguard international fairness and justice.
The two sides agreed to jointly prepare for high-level exchanges between the two countries and inject strong impetus into bilateral relations.
The two sides agreed to promote the improvement and upgrading of the relationship between China and the GCC, and accelerate the negotiation of the China-GCC Free Trade Agreement.
The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen communication and coordination on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the G20 and the BRICS mechanism.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between China and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and promote the international community to pay more attention to the Palestinian issue.
The two sides also exchanged views on the regional security situation. Wang Yi expressed that China attaches great importance to Saudi Arabia’s reasonable concerns, supports the peaceful and friendly coexistence of neighboring countries, and jointly maintains the security and stability of the Middle East and Gulf regions.
