State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Musa during the UN General Assembly
On September 24, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Moussa of Gabon on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Wang Yi said that Gabon is a good friend of China in Africa. The two countries have always been sincere and friendly, treated each other as equals, achieved win-win cooperation and common development, forged a profound friendship, and continued to consolidate and develop their comprehensive cooperative partnership. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Gabon side to jointly build the “Belt and Road” with high quality, help Gabon accelerate its development and revitalization, and bring more benefits to the Gabonese people.
Wang Yi expressed that China has always advocated that all countries, big and small, are equal, and always stand on the side of developing countries and African countries. China will continue to do practical things for African partners and develop and revitalize together with African brothers and sisters. Congratulations to Gabon for assuming the rotating presidency of the Security Council next month, and is willing to strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs, jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, and uphold the basic principle of international relations of non-interference in internal affairs.
Moussa said that the friendship between Canada and China has a long history and the mutually beneficial cooperation has yielded fruitful results. China is Gabon’s largest economic and trade partner. China has helped Gabon improve its infrastructure and took the lead in supporting Gabon’s fight against the epidemic. Chinese companies have made important contributions to Gabon’s economic development, which the Gabonese government and people will bear in mind. Gabon is also a reliable partner of China and will continue to firmly abide by the one-China principle and oppose the politicization of human rights. We are willing to strengthen the connection between “emerging Gabon” and the “Belt and Road” initiative to realize economic diversification. Gabon warmly welcomes Chinese investment and looks forward to expanding cooperation and achieving more mutually beneficial and win-win results.
