The author believes that there have been five new trends in studying abroad in China, namely: the level of overseas students is more abundant, the choice of majors tends to be diversified, the destination countries for studying abroad are diversified, “study abroad” may welcome development opportunities, and international study tours are becoming more and more mature. At the same time, no matter from the policy support at the macro level or the actual demand for studying abroad at the micro level, my country’s status as the world’s largest source of international students will continue to be maintained for a period of time in the future.
The book also points out that among the new generation of “returnees” who are mainly “post-80s” and “post-90s”, economics and business backgrounds account for the highest proportions. From the perspective of the types of employment units, “returnees” talents are mainly concentrated in private enterprises.
The book analyzes that the development of Chinese students returning to China will show ten trends: the return of “returnees” will show a steady growth trend; entrepreneurship will remain the focus of the future; With the continuous improvement of the number of overseas students, overseas students have developed from elite to popular, and correspondingly, the Chinese “returnee” group has expanded from high-end talents to talents at all levels; local enterprises and second-tier cities will attract more “returnees”; “returnees” “Entering the era of “circulation” — some “returnees” return to China for development and then go to the original destination country or a third country again, but still maintain close contact with the country; promote the pace of democracy construction; lead Chinese enterprises to “go global”; Promote the development of high-tech emerging industries; improve the level of domestic academic research, explore innovation in educational mechanisms; and promote non-governmental diplomacy to promote China’s integration with the world.
